Our mission is to empower community‑led sustainable development by supporting local communities to lead decisions, protecting and nurturing cultural heritage, and regenerating biodiversity across the destinations where we operate.

We deliver authentic Member experiences that reflect and celebrate each destination’s unique identity, while directly supporting the economic, social and environmental wellbeing defined by the communities themselves.

Our Four Priorities

Our practice is guided by four priorities: Planet, People, Property and Culture. Across all destinations we prioritise closed-loop water systems, electric vehicles and renewable energy. We are committed to achieving carbon neutrality through maximising renewable generation and energy-efficient design. Plastic use is kept to the bare minimum, with no single-use plastics. We source food locally and use local materials in construction, partnering with local artisans. Every journey is designed to leave places better – protecting ecosystems, supporting communities and honouring cultural heritage.

Local Impact Fund

Each property contributes 1% of its Gross Operating Revenue (GOR) to a Local Impact Fund, ensuring destination-based benefits for the community and ecosystem it touches.

Our three Pillars of Impact are anchored in our principle of positive impact and in alignment with our Discover Collection Foundation.

This model ensures that global ambition and local action reinforce one another - creating a ripple effect of impact.

CONSERVATION & REGENERATION

Our programmes aim to restore and regenerate local habitats and ecosystems in collaboration with local communities. Through conservation we will safeguard the fragile ecosystems of each unique destination, protect endangered species and cultural heritage so they remain intact for generations to come. Regeneration is about renewal – restoring what has been degraded, from coral reefs and forests to soils and cultural practices. Together, they ensure every journey protects today and heals for tomorrow.

EDUCATION & OPPORTUNITY

Our programmes aim to stimulate economic development and empower local communities, fostering self-reliance. We are committed to initiatives that create meaningful livelihoods and strengthen local communities, designed to generate lasting opportunity, not just short-term benefit, and whose missions will be co-designed with local communities to ensure ownership, dignity and long-term success addressing real needs. We will also run locally led campaigns that raise understanding of environmental challenges and solutions for Members and communities alike.

IMPACT

We’ve been working with several experts on sustainability. It’s about understanding the impact on the community and the wider world. It’s about adopting a “whole systems” approach and viewing all elements as interconnected rather than isolated.

We take responsibility for our footprint and invest in protecting and restoring habitats, supporting communities and culture and expanding education and opportunity. Flagship programmes are designed to be self-propelling, and impact will be tracked through independent audits and benchmarked against recognized international standards such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), EarthCheck, GSTC and other leading frameworks. Each year, results will be published in an impact report, combining verified financials with case studies from across our destinations.
